Online shop to help chocolate shoppers to purchase the product easier

UX designer designing an app for B Choco a Chocolate shop to order chocolate for events and delivery.

Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.

Problem statement:
Lila is an Interior Designer who needs to pre order Chocolate for her wedding because she works full time and she needs to plan ahead for her event.

Lilia’s user journey revealed how helpful it would be for users to order online through Choco App.
Key Insights
Paper wireframes
Each screen of the app on paper ensured that the elements that made it to digital wireframes would be well-suited to address user pain points for a quick and easy ordering process to help users save time.
Digital wireframes
The key for users to order easily was Easy navigation and less complicated design.
Easy checkout was a key user need to address in the designs in addition to equipping the app to work with assistive technologies.
Low-fidelity prototype
The primary user flow I connected was ordering chocolate in any quantity, so the prototype could be used in a usability study.
Usability study: findings
I conducted two rounds of usability studies. Findings from the first study helped guide the designs from wireframes to mockups. The second study used a high-fidelity prototype and revealed what aspects of the mockups needed refining.
Mockups
Early designs was basic,
but after the usability studies, I added additional options for Users to buy. I also revised the design so users see all the customization options when they first land on the screen.
The second usability study revealed frustration with the seasonal gift set screen. I added more options to this screen with name and prices.
High-fidelity prototype
The final high-fidelity prototype presented cleaner user flows for users to select their product and checkout. It also meet user needs for pre order for a special date.

The problem:
Busy Customer can’t pre order the
product and commute to the location in order to purchase the product.

This app should be able to improve the sales and increase customer satisfaction.

Understanding the User
I planned user research study and conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I’m designing for and their needs. A primary user group identified through research was working adults who needs to plan for events and receive their product on time.
This group was not the only group to like to order online. Time was not the only factor limiting users from visiting the store, Other user problems included obligations, interests, or challenges that make it difficult to travel to the store.
This app should be able to improve the sales and increase customer satisfaction.
TIME
Non local people with a busy schedule can’t travel a long distance to purchase chocolate.

Complicated menus in apps cause confusion and difficult to order.
Accessibility
Platforms for ordering chocolate are not equipped with assistive technologies.

Impact:
The app makes users feel like Chocolate shop thinks about how to meet their needs and add their desired features.
What I learned:
While designing the B Choco app, I learned that the first design for the app can get better with Usability studies and user’s feedback.
A:
Conduct another round of usability studies to validate whether the main goal of app to keep users satisfaction have been effectively addressed.
